Barlow dated February 15th 1845 ----- new task (VMSS76_S1_SS3_B3_F42_p002.jpg) A. Coppy To the Brethren of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Greeting. The present time seems fraught with circumstances of importance well calculated to facilitate and hasten the progress of the work of God, the building up of the Kingdom, and the Salvation of the saints. Where the fountain is, the saints wish to be, and there is their asylum, and this of necessity requires a gathering together. Like cleaves to like, intelligence to intelligence and Saint to Saint. consequently the Brethren naturally desire to be together. Every effort has been made all the while to accomplish this grand object, but never did providence seem to favor our wishes so much as at the present time. The voice of wisdom calls aloud to move while it is day; and what we do, let it be done without delay, but not in haste so as to create confusion. Our enemies in this county, and more especially in the immediate vicinity of Nauvoo are now anxious to leave us and move away to a clime more congenial with their natures where the voice of truth cannot reach them. Many of them have offered to sell out their farms on very reasonable terms, and many others have offered to exchange for farms in other parts of this and the adjoining states and Territories. On the other hand the brethren abroad have manifested a desire to exchange their possessions for farms in this neighborhood, and now is the time. To facilitate this important object we have considered it wisdom to appoint our beloved brethren William Anderson and Israel Barlow, Agents, to negotiate with our enemies for their property, and exchange the same with all those brethren who wish to exchange and move into our midst, or otherwise aid and assist the brethren in making exchanges. They will be capable of giving information of the various farms offered for exchange, their prices &c,, and otherwise assisting the brethren abroad to exchange to advantage. We hope ----- new task (VMSS76_S1_SS3_B3_F42_p003.jpg) that full faith and confidence will be reposed in these agents by the saints where ever they may travel, and that the brethren will not let this very favorable opportunity of securing to themselves a home amongst the body of the saints pass, without using every effort to avail themselves of the advantages offered. In testimony of this appointment, and the confidence we have in these brethren we have hereunto set our hands and the private seal of the quorum of the Twelve of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Done at the City of Nauvoo this 15th February 1845. We cheerfully concur in the foregoing appointment as witness our hands the date aforesaid. N. K.
